As you may be aware, beginning April 15, 2010 the Private Security and Investigative Services Act introduced and began to enforce the new Mandatory Training and Testing regulation.
This means that all individuals wishing to work in any field related to security must participate in a mandatory 40 Hour training course followed by ministry testing held at participating Drive Test Centres throughout Ontario, in order to apply for an Ontario Security Guard Licence.
Individuals already licensed as
Security
Guards are exempt from the mandatory 40hr training course, however they must pass ministry testing in order to renew their Ontario Security Guard Licence.
This regulation ensures the increase in professional requirements for security guards and private investigators and will enhance public safety.
Naturally with the increase in qualification and professionalism, the industry will experience an increase in demand for security services with far more attractive pay structures.
Individuals wishing to pursue a career in security and/or investigations , but are not currently licensed to do so will have the options of taking the required
training course
